Guest account on Windows are created to let someone else use your PC but with limited access so that they can’t change settings, download apps or software programs from the internet, and to prevent others from getting to your private and personal information saved on computer. You can set limits as to what can and can’t be accessed at the time of creating the account. But on Windows 10 setting up guest account is not as straight forward as was the case in previous versions of Windows OS. On Windows 8/8.1/7/XP/Vista you could create visitor accounts easily from Control Panel, surprisingly this is not the case on Windows 10 PC/laptops. In order to setup Guest Accounts on Windows 10 there is a little method that must be adhered to for the purpose as we have shown down below in this post.

By following step-by-step guide below you will be able to create guest account on Windows 10 PC.
How to Setup Guest Account on Windows 10 PC/Laptops:
1 – Right-click on the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin) option from the menu. Or go to start > all apps > windows system > command prompt.
2 – Click yes on warning window to allow this app to make changes to your PC.
3 – On command prompt screen type net user Visitor /add /active:yes command and hit enter key. Word ‘visitor’ in the command is used as an example, you can replace it with any name other than ‘Guest’ because guest is associated with Windows 10 default account.
4 – Now type password for visitor account. If you don’t want to assign password to guest account then simply hit the enter key twice.
5 – Next type the command net localgroup users Visitor /delete and press enter key to discard guest user from Windows default user group so that others are disallowed to make changes to PC settings.
6 – After that type net localgroup guests Visitor /add and press enter. This will create a new visitor account in the guest group with restricted access.
7 – Exit command prompt window and click on Windows Start button. Click current username on the top of Start menu. You will see a new account titled visitor account just under current admin account on Start menu, click on it to log into it.
You can also switch between admin and guest accounts from Windows 10 login screen when you start or restart the PC.
